HISPASAT travels to Panama with Ruta Quetzal BBVA

June 18, 2013

The Spanish operator ensures communications of the organisation, members of the expedition and journalists through satellite connections, during their adventure in Panamanian territory.

HISPASAT has been the technological ally of the expedition for 10 years.

HISPASAT accompanies the new BBVA Quetzal Route which travels to Panama this year. Tomorrow is the outset of the 28th edition entitled “From the Rainforest of Darién to Europe of Charles V - The grand adventure of the discovery of the South Sea”, where the Spanish operator will provide satellite communications to the organisation, to the 228 youngsters from 50 countries who participate in the trail and to the journalists and media that accompany them.

The high performance of its satellites, its excellent range in the American continent and connectivity with Europe has meant that HISPASAT has been the technological ally of Ruta Quetzal BBVA for the last 10 years. Satellite technology is ideal for covering information transmission requirements in geographically difficult zones lacking other communication infrastructures. Its use during this expedition will highlight the high performance of broadband solutions offered by HISPASAT, featuring portable emitting and receiving systems.

The operator supplies the necessary equipment – a portable two-directional satellite terminal – so that the organisation, journalists and members of the expedition have broadband Internet access via satellite to transmit information and emit radio and video signals. It also provides capacity for holding videoconferences between America and Europe.

The satellite solution is ensured, as an HISPASAT technician will travel with the expedition to guarantee signal range and solve any possible technical hitches.
