The operator launches new TV broadcast platforms and gives TV channels the infrastructure they need to derive maximum benefit from the power of its satellites.
HISPASAT is thus expanding its capacity and offer, with new connection points and coverage over its orbital position at 30º West.
HISPASAT is increasing the number of Shared Digital Platforms available on its fleet. These platforms enable individual audio-visual channels to be broadcast within digital multiplexes, sharing their carrier with other television channels. HISPASAT clients may therefore derive benefit from all the power offered by its satellites’ transponders, despite the fact they do not occupy them completely. This service constitutes a significant advantage for smaller television channels, seeking to distribute or broadcast audio-visual content, without having to contract the full capacity of a transponder, since it enables them to broadcast at full power and use smaller antennae for reception, within the ample coverage of the fleet.
In order to set this service into motion, HISPASAT has secured several agreements with teleports RRsat, Overon and Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, all of which concern its orbital position at 30º west. This infrastructure is available under the connections offered by its satellites over Europe, America and North Africa, as well as under its transatlantic capacity. Indeed, HISPASAT continues to expand its service offer by deploying new interconnection and broadcast points. At the moment, this powerful network has access points in Madrid, London, Hawley (USA), Budapest, Sofia and Tel Aviv.
HISPASAT therefore offers great flexibility to all audio-visual content producers seeking to broadcast their signals, whether directly to the user (DTH), indirectly by transporting their TV channel to cable headends or via terrestrial broadcast. Furthermore, it is possible to broadcast in both DVB-S and DVB-S2 format, thus meaning that not only is it possible to optimise broadcast in terms of power but also in terms of broadband consumption.
