HISPASAT extends its distribution services thanks to an agreement with the teleport operator Media Broadcast Satellite

September 10, 2016

The satellite operator will increase its transmission capacity with a new connection point from its 30° West orbital position.

Media Broadcast Satellite (MB Sat) will reinforce its current content distribution services on the basis of a new high-performance platform and the competitive infrastructure of the Spanish operator.

Madrid, September 10th 2016.- Spanish satellite and telecommunications operator HISPASAT and German telecommunications service provider Media Broadcast Satellite have reached an agreement to provide television distribution services throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East (EMEA). Through this agreement, both companies will extend their strong commercial services, aiming to achieve maximum flexibility for those television operators that wish to provide their signal to these regions in a quick and simple way.

In doing so, Media Broadcast Satellite has joined the teleport operators that already offer HISPASAT’s solution of Shared Digital Platforms from the 30° West orbital position and Media Broadcast Satellite strengthens its activities in the B2B market based on a new DVB-S2 platforms and competitive infrastructure on Spanish satellite operator. Heart of the platform is located at Media Broadcast Satellite Teleport in Usingen, Germany, with its extreme security and reliability standards, probably one of the safest teleports worldwide.

HISPASAT is thus offering a great opportunity for all audiovisual content producers seeking to distribute their signals either direct-to-home (DTH) or indirectly. By transporting these signals through cable leads or terrestrial broadcasting, the Spanish operator allows producers to optimise transmission not only in terms of power, but also in terms of bandwidth consumption. HISPASAT’s Shared Digital Platforms facilitate the transmission of individual audiovisual channels within digital multiplexes, sharing the carrier with other television operators. This allows its customers to take full advantage of the power of the satellite transponders, even if they are not used entirely.

Christian Fleischhauer, Head of Media Broadcast Satellite, stated: “With this highly competitive Video and Data distribution platform, our customers are able to deliver content within the footprint of HISPASAT in EMEA at outstanding conditions and performance.”

Ignacio Sanchis, Business Director at HISPASAT, also expressed his satisfaction with the agreement with Media Broadcast Satellite, “which allows us to continue to extend our services throughout EMEA from our 30° West orbital position and to offer solutions to television operators that adapt to each situation and each moment”.

With this additional orbital position, Media Broadcast Satellite complements the existing B2B business with a new and independent high throughput platform. Another step to guarantee our customers a wide and satellite operator neutral portfolio of satellite services. In combination with its DVB or IP platforms, encryption and playout technology, Media Broadcast Satellite is able to provide tailor made distribution solutions.
