ABOUT THE REPORT
AIM, SCOPE AND EXTENSION
The HISPASAT Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2017 aims to provide stakeholders with relevant information on the main progress made by the company and the future challenges facing it and, thereby, to enable them to make better decisions regarding their relationship with HISPASAT.
The Reports deals with company activity in 2017; a year in which several important milestones have been achieved. Whenever deemed appropriate, mention is also made of other initiatives that were initially undertaken prior to 2017. These cases are indicated accordingly in the report.
The main figures and a description of the most important management policies and initiatives undertaken by the two main companies in the Group are given: HISPASAT and HISPAMAR. If the information provided only refers to one of these, this will be duly indicated throughout the report.
DRAFTING AND CONTENT CRITERIA
The principles and standards in the core option of Global Reporting Initiative standards with respect to writing sustainability reports were taken into account when drafting the HISPASAT CSR 2017. As established in the GRI principle of materiality, the document provides information on material topics for the company, in other words, those aspects of a social, environmental, economic and/or governance nature that are important for the organisation and which impact on the decision-making of its stakeholders.
The material topics about which information is provided were basically determined on foot of the internal reflection that came about on the occasion of designing and approving the 2015 CSR Master Plan. Several internal and external sources where considered in this task that made it possible to establish a diagnosis and identify the most relevant areas on which HISPASAT would focus its action plan.
