FORUMS AND ASSOCIATIONS

SPANISH SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR THE INFORMATION SOCIETY AND DIGITAL AGENDA

HISPASAT collaborates bilaterally and by participating in preparatory multilateral meetings for international conferences and forums that affect the company.

In 2019, HISPASAT participated in meetings focused on establishing a national position with regard to the agenda points for the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19), held in Egypt at the end of the year, making up part of the Spanish delegation.

SPANISH NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS AGENCY (ANATEL)

In Brazil, HISPASAT attended sessions of the Rapporteur group on Radiocommunication 2 – Satellite services (GRR2), organised by the Agency. Similarly, the company also formed part of the Brazilian delegation at the WRC-19.

INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATION UNION (ITU)

HISPASAT took part in:

a) ITU Council. HISPASAT participates in this Council, which constitutes the highest body of the organisation, as a guest of the Spanish government and as a member of the radiocommunications sector and a satellite operator governed by Spanish law.

b) WP4A Group of ITU. This group works to ensure that orbit-spectrum resources are used efficiently for fixed satellite services and broadcast satellite services.

c) WRC-19: During November 2019 the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) was held at Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, where member countries of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) reviewed the use of the radio spectrum and the international laws that govern it.

The company was represented by four people who attended the Conference throughout the month to try to ensure that its results would be satisfactory for the interests of the HISPASAT Group for the operation of the Group’s current and future satellites, coordinating some items on the agenda at the European, American and ESOA level.

INTER-AMERICAN TELECOMMUNICATION COMMISSION (CITEL)

HISPASAT participates in the Radiocommunications Committee (including radio broadcasting) PCC-II.

EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON POSTAL AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATIONS (CEPT)

HISPASAT participates in the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) and in the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) and its working groups.

INTER-AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF TELECOMMUNICATION (ASIET)

As an associate member of the Council, HISPASAT participates primarily in the General Assembly, the Governing Board, Regulatory Commission and operators’ meetings.

EUROPEAN SATELLITE OPERATORS ASSOCIATION (ESOA)

The company collaborated on Council activities and in the association’s working groups, as well as at meetings with the European Commission.

NATIONAL UNION OF SATELLITE TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES OF BRAZIL (SINDISAT)

Through HISPAMAR, HISPASAT actively participates in the working groups that, among other activities, establish joint commentary on ANATEL’s public consultations.

BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF SATELLITE COMPANIES (ABRASAT)

HISPAMAR is part of the Association’s management and participates in its activities.

GLOBAL VSAT FORUM (GVF)

This forum comprises the main members of the satellite communications industry.

MADRID AEROSPACE CLUSTER

HISPASAT is a partner of this cluster, to which more than 50 innovative companies in the sector belong.

EUROPEAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS STANDARDS INSTITUTE (ETSI)

HISPASAT attends the meetings of this institute, which is responsible for drawing up global standards related to information technology and communication.

DIGITAL VIDEO BROADCASTING (DVB)

The company participates in order to promote internationally accepted TV standards.

SPACE DATA ASSOCIATION

HISPASAT is a member of this association that controls the safety and integrity of the space environment and the radio frequency spectrum.

SPANISH DEFENCE, AERONAUTICAL AND SPACE ASSOCIATION (TEDAE)

HISPASAT is an association member and forms part of the Space Commission.

HISPASAT continued working on the executive committee and in different working groups formed for the study and promotion of SAT>IP technology and on the direction to take, in addition to making business contacts with key customers.

NATIONAL FEDERATION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES AND INTEGRATORS (FENITEL)

HISPASAT took part in the Assembly that the Federation organises on an annual basis.

BRAZILIAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION (TELEBRASIL)

HISPAMAR is a member of the association, which brings together operators and service providers in the communication and information industry to defend their rights and growth.

GRADIANT FOUNDATION

In 2019 HISPASAT became a collaborating partner in the Gradiant Foundation, a private technology centre that brings together universities and companies from the ICT sector and works on R&D and technology transfer projects in the field of connectivity, intelligence and security to promote the development of the industry.

FAIRS AND EVENTS

In the Americas, HISPASAT attended the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show at Las Vegas, at which the company presented its video on demand service via satellite, and Washington Satellite, the largest industry event.

In Latin America, HISPAMAR participated in SET Expo, a conference organised by the Brazilian TV Engineering Society, and in Andicom, the main telecommunications event in Colombia. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the company attended the 19th Latin American Satellite Conference, held in September, at which the top executives of Brazilian operators meet, representing international groups, state defence agencies and major satellite market clients.

The company also took part in Futurecom, the industry’s most important international fair in Latin America and in the Brazil SSPI, an event organised annually in Sao Paolo by the International Society of Satellite Professionals, at which the latest market developments are discussed in various sessions.

At the end of the year the company participated in Expodefensa, a leading international fair in Latin America and the Caribbean in the defence sector, held every two years in Bogota.

In Europe, HISPASAT attended the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, participating in a demonstrator of 5G connectivity for emergency serviceswith a connected ambulance. This initiative was driven by consortium made up of the Generalitat de Catalunya, SEM, Vodafone, i2CAT, HISPASAT, Juniper Networks and Iecisa, together with other members of 5G Barcelona. HISPASAT also participated in the VSAT Global 2019, which was held in London in September.

Also, in Zaragoza, the company took part in DATAGRI, the largest agri-food industry digitisation meeting in Spain and in Córdoba, HISPASAT participated in the Forum Smart Agro 2019, to present their innovation projects in this field.

In Malaga, the company participated in the 5G Forum and the 4K Summit, both organized by Medina Media. and at Telecom’19, an annual event organized by Fenitel, in Murcia.

In September HISPASAT participated in the IBC (International Broadcast Convention), which is held annually in Amsterdam. Also this month, HISPASAT attended to the Business Week in Paris, an event organized annually by Euroconsult.

In 2019, HISPASAT has also participated in important specialized technological events such as the Cross Industry Innovation Summit, organized by NASA, at the New Space Forum in Sevilla and the EUCASS conference (European Conference for Aeronautics and Space Sciences) in Madrid.

HISPASAT SATELLITE INNOVATION DAYS 2019

In 2019, HISPASAT put on the VI edition of the HISPASAT Innovation Days, which were held in Madrid, London, Rabat, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota and Buenos Aires. Leading players in the satellite, telecommunications and audiovisual sector attended these meetings to discuss the present and future of the industry, while also identifying key factors for innovation and market growth.
