UIMP: 8TH SPACE TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE

In 2016 HISPASAT organised the 8th space telecommunications conference, attended by the top executives from the main aerospace and telecommunications companies across the globe.
Titled “Response of the satellite sector to new challenges in the telecommunications market”, the debates focused on looking for solutions to the new demands of an increasingly competitive market.

During the working sessions, representatives of di erent national and international companies discussed di erent possibilities to increase the competitiveness of telecommunications satellites, reduce their size, innovating into payloads and improve the construction process to build more exible, e cient and lightweight satellites.
They also discussed new technological advances in the area of ground user segments and new developments on satellite platforms and in its terrestrial segment of control, while the satellite launchers discussions were held on their contribution to the competitiveness of space telecommunications.

SUMMER COURSES IN EL ESCORIAL

For yet another year, HISPASAT facilitated the dissemination of knowledge to the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the access to information on the summer courses in El Escorial, wherever its satellite coverage reaches.
The technological solution used by HISPASAT that enables television signals to be transmitted consists of a link via satellite that is used by all news services and television programmes in order to send out the images and news updates on the courses that are prepared and distributed by the Complutense University’s production house (UCMTV).

RUTA BBVA

Once again, HISPASAT facilitated satellite connection to the 2016 Ruta BBVA organisation during their trip through Mexico. HISPASAT provided the organisation and journalists with broadband Internet access via satellite and IP telephone service, allowing them to broadcast information and transmit radio and video signals from Mexico.
HISPASAT’s partner, Globalsat, provided and managed the necessary technical equipment needed on the ground to connect with HISPASAT’s Amazonas 2 satellite and ensure the service works correctly at all times.

TITAN DESERT

In 2016, HISPASAT sponsored the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin, which consists of one of the most spectacular and gruelling multi-stage mountain bike challenges on the planet, for the rst time to become the race’s technology sponsors and provide needed satellite connectivity for the competition. HISPASAT, along with Quantis-Nortis, facilitated communications for the organisation and journalists and, for the first time ever in the history of this sporting event, allowed riders to use the Internet at the camps and stream their arrival to the finish line live on the Titan Desert webpage.

SPANISH RUGBY FEDERATION

As a sponsor of the Spanish Rugby Federation, in 2016 HISPASAT continued to broadcast international matches played in Spain via satellite for both men’s and women’s national teams, as well as the nals of the main tournaments on the peninsula.

HISPASAT continued to collaborate with the Ibero-American Association of Educational and Cultural Television (ATEI) to provide satellite services to their network of partners and

OFFICIAL SCHOOL OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEERING

Throughout this year, HISPASAT participated in the awards ceremony of the O cial School of Telecommunications Engineers, awarding the best doctoral theses and bachelor’s thesis from last year, sponsoring two of the awards.

HISPASAT 4K INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

For the second consecutive year, HISPASAT celebrated its second Hispasat 4K International Short Film Festival, on this occasion coinciding with the International Film Festival in San Sebastián. This year more than 100 short films in 4K from 14 different countries participated.
This edition included the participation of partner companies which are noteworthy for their development and implementation of 4K technology, such as RTVE, Samsung, Dolby, Fuji lm, Ad Hoc Studios, SGO, and a special collaboration by Cine365 Film.
