2015 Key Milestones of Commercial Efforts

PARTICIPATION IN FORUMS AND FAIRS

FORUMS

• Spanish Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Society (SETSI): HISPASAT collaborates with SETSI bilaterally and in preparatory multilateral meetings in international conferences and forums that affect the company.
In 2015, HISPASAT attended meetings focused on establishing a national position with regard to common European proposals for the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15), held in November of this year.

• The Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL): in Brazil, the company attended sessions of the Rapporteur Group on Radiocommunication 2 – Satellite services (GRR2), organised by the Agency.

• International Telecommunication Union (ITU): HISPASAT has participated in different ITU bodies and working groups, including:

a) Conference Preparatory Meeting (CPM15-2), where the basis for the World Conference (WRC-15) was established.

b) World Radiocommunication Conference (WRD-15), where the revision of the ITU Radiocommunication Regulations was completed:

One of the main topics discussed was the search for additional spectrum for mobile communications, known in the ITU as International Mobile Telecommunications (ITM), in shared bands with other services. Among the frequency bands used by the mobile industry, the C band is worth nothing since it is used extensively to provide communications via satellite with a downlink that is available throughout the world. Thanks to the work carried out at the Conference by industry members, including HISPASAT’s active participation, most of this band continues to be used for satellite communications.

c) ITU Council. HISPASAT participates in this Council, which constitutes the highest body of the organisation, as a guest of the Spanish government and as a member of the radiocommunications sector and a satellite operator governed by Spanish law.

d) WP4A Group of ITU. HISPASAT participates in this group, which works to ensure that orbit-spectrum resources are used efficiently for fixed satellite services and broadcast satellite services.

• Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITE): HISPASAT Group participates in the Radiocommunications Committee (including radio broadcasting) PCC-II.

• European Conference on Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT): HISPASAT participates in the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) and in the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) and its working groups.

• Inter-American Association of Telecommunication (ASIET): As an associate member of the Council, HISPASAT actively participates in its projects, primarily in the General Assembly, the Governing Board, Regulatory Commission and operators’ meetings.

• European Satellite Operators Association (ESOA): HISPASAT has collaborated on Council activities and in the association’s working groups. It participates periodically in meetings with the EU Commission.

• Association of Electronics and Information Technology Companies (AMETIC): HISPASAT participates in activities related to the specific field of operators.

• National Union of Satellite Telecommunication Companies of Brazil (SINDISAT): Through HISPAMAR, HISPASAT Group forms part of the management of the union and actively participates in its working groups, which establish joint commentary on ANATEL’s public consultations, among other activities.

• Brazilian Association of Satellite Companies (ABRASAT): Through HISPAMAR, HISPASAT Group forms part of the management of the Association and actively participates in its activities.
