2015 Key Milestones in Internal Management

HUMAN RESOURCES

HISPASAT considers highly trained and qualified professionals to be one of the organisation’s priorities. Professionals are the company’s most valuable asset and one of the key factors for success and improving HISPASAT’s productivity and competitiveness in its sector.

The Training Plan has continued this year, and “Organisation and Planning” workshops have been held for team managers as well as all other employees. The rate of attendance was 97% for the level I workshop and 93.33% for the level II workshop.

In 2015, HISPASAT also established a “Training Campus” which aims to provide all professionals with a complete language-learning programme that includes in-person classes, telephone classes and an e-Learning platform. Additional in-person Portuguese classes are now offered as well. The Campus also offers computer literacy and OHS programmes, given the key importance of OHS for worker safety.

In 2015 the Group continued to work on Talent Management and Succession plans with the objective to improve the development of HISPASAT and its employees.

Talent in organisations, just like all other assets, should be managed properly to establish its growth model and guarantee fulfilment of its goals by working in line with the established values. In today’s constantly changing environment, having the best suited professionals in key organisational positions is key to remaining competitive and guaranteeing success.

The Succession Plan reflects the kind of policies used by HISPASAT for employee development. This plan identifies key positions based on their impact on strategy, the organisation and results, and talent is analysed by evaluating current skills and identifying people with high potential.

In 2015, this analysis was completed and the required competence profiles were established for those key positions. The next step will be to train “high potentials” so that they can acquire the skills and experiences necessary to face new challenges that arise in other areas within the company.

This process will take place over the next three years and will offer comprehensive training in general, leadership and communication skills. This will boost the knowledge and skills of profiles that can take on new challenges in the organisation successfully and with dedication. The programme includes group workshops, case studies, individual mentoring, and an internal training programme in areas considered to be relevant for personal and professional growth, such as people management, decision making and communication, among others. These aspects will be supplemented with specific initiatives related to language learning and project management.
In 2015, the training plan began with the Mentoring Programme and the “Manage and Direct Successfully” learning workshops. Participation was 95% and the average score was 4.8 out of 5.

At the end of the 2015 business year, HISPASAT Group (HISPASAT, HISPASAT Canarias, HISPAMAR and Consultek) employed 185 people, 50% of whom have advanced higher education certificates. The Group has a young workforce in which the average age is 45.33. Women make up 27% of the company’s management.

CERTIFICATIONS: THE IMPORTANCE OF TRUST

HISPASAT considers certifications to be a differentiating element in the market, not only because they improve the image of the company and the products and services offered, but also because they build trust among clients, shareholders, employees, public administrative bodies and the company’s social environment.

Since 2010, HISPASAT has successfully certified its management systems in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 9001:2008 standard, undergoing annual assessments performed by the certification authority AENOR.

In line with Service Quality Management and the company’s aim to continue on the road to excellence, in 2015 HISPASAT integrated into its management system aspects related to Information Security and Occupational Health and Safety, in accordance with the standards UNE/IEC 27001:2013 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

In December 2015, HISPASAT underwent the certification process, carried out by AENOR, an entity accredited by ENAC. The results of the process determined that the audited systems have been properly implemented, thereby complying with the applicable certification requirements related to the reference standards.

DIGITALISATION AND SYSTEMS PLAN

As part of the initiatives included in the Systems Plan, various tools have been deployed in 2015 to improve features that are available to Group users. One tool worth noting is Yammer, a collaboration tool aimed at facilitating communication between Group employees, and FileCloud, a solution that copies and backs up data on laptop computers and make access to internal information via the web easier.

HISPASAT has improved some features of the Customer Retaionship Management (CRM) system put in place in previous years, offering greater flexibility in the management of contracts, offers, opportunities and discounts, the possibility to change currency during any phase in the opportunity management process, as well as automatisation of the update process for the product catalogue and fees via documents and templates that are directly generated by the CRM system.

This year, CRM has also changed in other areas, such as the inclusion of new profiles that optimise their role within the Group, along with client invoice tracking.
In the final block of actions implemented in the CRM system, calculation of the sales funnel improved throughout 2015 with the objective of predicting income based on current opportunities created in the system and their potential income for the Group. Changes have also been made to integrate CRM into operational platforms so that reports and emails that facilitate improved monitoring of aspects related to the quality of services provided by HISPASAT and incident management are generated automatically

In terms of cybersecurity, HISPASAT has successfully completed the plan started at the beginning of the year to implement different tools and systems that improve the protection of its systems and activities. Some of the initiatives proposed by this plan include the deployment of monitoring, detection and protection systems in all centres with Group infrastructure (Arganda, Tres Cantos, Castellana, Maspalomas, Las Palmas, Flamengo, Guaratiba, Balcarce, Arica, Mexico, Laredo) and the development of a collection system for all information (LOGGER) as well as a security information and event management system (SIEM). In order to manage these systems and infrastructure, HISPASAT contracted a managed security service for monitoring services, security event correlation and 24/7 support for resolving security incidents. In addition, active management of vulnerabilities and security assessments (periodic ethical hacking), as well as controls and monitoring of perimeter security systems, will be carried out periodically.

Finally, in terms of control centre operations, this year HISPASAT implemented a KVM management system that aims to ensure compliance with the information security requirements in standards DODI 8500.2 and ISO 27001 for logical access control to the satellite control area.

NEW RISK MANAGEMENT TOOL

HISPASAT has a sound Risk Management System that guarantees the identification and assessment of risks that threaten its activity. In addition, the system is in line with the new trends and challenges found in the environment. This reinforces the company’s commitment to comprehensive and systematic management that may involve the management of technical, fiscal or criminal code risks, among others.

Maintaining robust management and risk control systems increases the likelihood that organisations will fulfil their objectives and adapt to changes in the operational and business environment.

Best practices and policies establish that the functions of risk management should be developed in a broader sense, identifying and defining a risk catalogue or universe that includes different types of key financial and non-financial risks faced by the firm.

To this effect, in 2015 the company proposed to improve the Risk Management System designed and implemented by HISPASAT in 2012 and 2013. To do so, the Company proceeded to update the Risk Management tool and adapt it to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC Suite or GRC) platform. This platform promotes comprehensive risk management by supporting different areas within its area of control and complying with the requirements and reporting needs at the Group level.

Updating to GRC Suite adds new features to the risk management process and improves the quality and detail of data that is currently used to make decisions based on the identified risks and controls. In addition, this update to the support tool allows HISPASAT to achieve goals related to business risk management.

GRC Suite

GRC Suite is a comprehensive platform that provides a response to all types of company risk management. It is a modular tool that can be implemented module by module and adapted to the current and future needs of each organisation.
