HISPASAT CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY

HISPASAT began as a local operator, providing telecommunication services through the satellites Hispasat 1A and 1B from the orbital position 30º West, with the objective of serving as a communications bridge between Spain and the Americas.

The company's internationalisation process began in the year 2000 when it acquired the rights to a new position, 61º West. The following year it created its Brazilian subsidiary, HISPAMAR Satellites. This process allowed HISPASAT to become a major regional operator in Latin America and one of the global leaders in revenue. It has also allowed HISPASAT to continue growing in these last few years while European markets have remained stagnant.

The company is evolving and maturing positively. In 2013, Abertis, backed by the Spanish administration, became the majority shareholder in HISPASAT with the goals to change the company's roadmap, make it a global actor, confront new challenges and search for new business opportunities to make it competitive in the global market.

25 years after HISPASAT was founded, it is the ninth-highest-ranking operator in the world, with seven satellites in orbit and another three under construction. HISPASAT continues to be a driving force in the aerospace industry. It has a commitment to innovation and continues to advance in the process of internationalisation and growth in order to maintain its status as a successful company.
