It is a great honour for me to present the Annual Report for 2014, an important year in which the company celebrated twenty-five years.
This symbolic business year has provided the perfect opportunity to take a look at our history and commemorate our anniversary. After twenty-five years in the business, we are proud to have become a benchmark in the sector and one of the top-earning satellite operators in the world.
Since the beginning, the company has been constantly evolving. Arriving to where we are now has not been easy, especially in the last few years within the context of a global economic crisis. Thanks to the intensification of our efforts in sales, the crisis has not had a negative impact on our business, and we think that in the upcoming years we will continue to reap the benefits of all the hard work we have put in.
Looking back, we have now launched nine satellites, seven of which are still in orbit and providing service, and we are currently in the process of building three new satellites, a sign of our commitment to continuous growth. Today we are a benchmark for other satellite operators in Latin America, thanks to our commitment to internationalisation with HISPAMAR Satellites in Brazil.
The telecommunications sector is changing and evolving dramatically, and we must be part of this evolution. We must strive to be on the leading edge of R&D in space and telecommunications in order to develop new solutions that satisfy the increasingly high demands of our clients and of our clients’ clients, the people who ultimately use these services.
Along these lines, we have improved our customer service by adding new tools to facilitate management, and we continue to support the industry, encouraging its development and internationalisation. We have also begun work on HISPASAT’s first Action Plan for Corporate Social Responsibility, since we are aware of the impact that we have in areas outside the world of business.
Over the years we have evolved and matured, achieving sustainable growth and success in business. The reason for this success has been efficient and effective management, which in turn has led to strong support from shareholders, a solid financial structure and faithful clients. And, of course, it has led to an excellent team of professionals who are the basis for our ambition and optimism as we face the future.
