Operators Market

1 IP TRUNKING

HISPASAT satellites offer network operators the possibility of creating high-capacity trunk links. The availability of these links is ensured through the monitoring systems at the company's control centres.

HISPASAT OFFERS:

Back-Up Trunking

This service provides back-up links that ensure uninterrupted communications service if the nominal system fails, in cases of natural disasters or local conflicts (where terrestrial communications infrastructure become disabled) or when there is network congestion due to a temporary increase in the volume of content being transported. Activation of back-up links is done through an IP transport network, supported by HISPASAT broadband platforms.

2 CELLULAR BACKHAUL

HISPASAT offers mobile telephone network operators flexibility to deploy their networks in time- and cost-efficient ways, connecting via satellite to remote or inaccessible locations. The solution allows for optimisation of the time spent on extending networks typically required for a cellular network.

The number of base stations that can be connected is easily scalable, and the solution can be adapted to the different network needs of each client.

3 INTERNET ACCESS

A communications link via satellite can be used by telecommunications operators to gain direct and secure access to the Internet's trunk network, offering broadband connectivity to clients:

  • Giving neglected areas universal Internet access.
  • Eliminating congestion or lack of capacity on current networks.
  • Reducing costs related to reserving lines or fibre.

HISPASAT satellites are used in Europe, America and North Africa to extend communications to rural areas, giving them universal Internet access.

VNO Internet Access

Based on a Virtual Network Operator (VNO) model, the client acts as a VNO and has remote access to the HISPASAT platform to automatically provide its services to end users. HISPASAT acts as a Hosting Network Operator (HNO) and sells capacity. The client can buy, install, maintain and register end-user terminals on the HISPASAT platform.

Users’ forward channels, as well as return channels, are provided via satellite.

VoIP and videoconferencing

HISPASAT platforms allow operators to offer Voice over IP (VoIP) services through data prioritisation protocols. Hispasat offers engineering and support services to clients for the configuration of end-user terminals, and assures voice/videoconferencing services’ priority (real-time service) over data services.
