HISPASAT, the Spanish satellite communications operator of the Red Eléctrica Group, has announced the winner of HISPASAT's fifth “Mujer Ingeniera” (Female Engineer) scholarship today. The jury selected María Molina Delicado, who is studying Electronic Communications Engineering at the Complutense University of Madrid.

The jury valued her academic record and highlighted that she holds undergraduate degrees in both Audiovisual Communications and Journalism from the CEU San Pablo University. Her multidisciplinary profile, with a great capacity to communicate and adapt and her sound technical background, was one of the main reasons she was selected. Additionally, the jury took into account that she holds a Master in Theoretical and Practical Philosophy offered by the Spanish National University of Distance Learning. She also has a keen interest in radiofrequency technologies: design, measurements and optimisation of transmission lines, antennas and satellite communications.

The jury, in its meeting on 9 June, was formed by Ms Alexia Rodríguez, on behalf of the Official Association of Telecommunications Engineers of Spain; Ms Cristina de Bustos, on behalf of the Official Association of Aeronautic Engineers of Spain, and, on behalf of HISPASAT, Mr Antonio Abad, Chief Technical Officer; Mr Ignacio Sanchis, Chief Commercial Officer; Mr Miguel Tauler, Chief of Resources and Organisation, and Ms Ana María Molina, director of Strategy and Transformation

HISPASAT’s “Mujer Ingeniera” (Female Engineer) scholarship provides 5,000 euros so that a female engineering student can carry out postgraduate studies in a master's degree in Aeronautics or Space Telecommunications Engineering.

In addition to encouraging the presence of women in technological fields, the annual scholarship aims to contribute to the professional development of women in these studies, as well as to increase the number of women involved in the space sector.

This initiative forms part of HISPASAT’s Sustainability policy and its firm commitment to helping people and communities to develop, specifically in promoting education and equality, fields in which the company is particularly involved with its various projects.
