HISPAMAR presents its Ka band Internet solutions at Futurecom 2017

October 3, 2017

The operator will provide the service though local Internet channels and providers, offering Internet access via satellite as an alternative in cities where the ground infrastructure is ineffective or very poor, as well as in rural areas.

In September the company launched its new satellite, the Amazonas 5, which is now in the testing phase in space.

São Paulo, 03 October 2017. From today until 5 October, HISPAMAR -HISPASAT’s Brazilian satellite operator subsidiary- will present its satellite Ka band Internet solutions to the telecommunications market and to ISPs (Internet Service Providers) gathered in São Paulo, within the framework of Futurecom 2017, which is the ICT sector's largest event in Latin America.

In September the company launched its new satellite, the Amazonas 5, which is currently in the testing phase in space. With 34 spots in Ka band, the satellite increases HISPAMAR's capacity, enabling connectivity services to be provided in several of the main Central and South American countries. "Ka band is the company's focus for the Latin American market. Satellite is undoubtedly the perfect technology for the digital inclusion of remote area, since implementation is quick and requires very minor investments in infrastructure", assured Sérgio Chaves, Business director in South America for HISPAMAR. "Today however, our aim is to provide Internet access to people living in both large urban centres and other surrounding cities, but that do not have a quality service and are waiting for one. The Ka band is the ideal technology for satellite broadband Internet services. It will enable us to provide high-performance connectivity at more competitive prices to these users", Chaves concluded.

HISPAMAR will provide the service though local Internet channels and providers, offering Internet access via satellite as an alternative in areas where the ground infrastructure is ineffective or very poor. The aim is to speed up the expansion and improvement of the broadband service in order for an increasing number of people to be able to connect to the digital world through a quality service, in both cities and rural areas. In addition to facilitating Internet access, the Ka band can also be effectively used for public services, mobile telephone backhaul, as well as for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, Smart Cities and connected car, which are growing sectors that need a reliable and robust infrastructure in order to consolidate their position in the Latin American market.

In addition to the Ka band, Amazonas 5 has 24 transponders on the Ku band that will provide DTH (Direct to Home) services and corporate and backhaul networks to implement mobile 3G, LTE and 5G networks to the market, as well as other efficient telecommunications solutions.

Panel on "The Role of the Satellite in Multiplying the Penetration of IoT Applications and Smart Cities"

On Wednesday, 4 October, the Business director in South America for HISPAMAR, Sérgio Chaves, will participate in the panel on "The role of the satellite in multiplying the penetration of IoT and Smart Cities". This event will discuss the technological challenges of the sector, the service provision for digital inclusion and connectivity and how the Ka band can strengthen the telecommunications infrastructure and widespread access to broadband in Brazil.

HISPAMAR also has a stand at Futurecom where participants will be able to obtain more detailed information on the operator's Ka band Internet solutions, as well as find out about the new satellites and services offered.
