MADRID, March 21, 2022. HISPASAT, the Spanish operator and satellite solutions and services provider of the Red Eléctrica Group, launches Hispasat Wave, a new generation of managed wholesale services for service providers, telecommunications operators, governments and audiovisual companies. The company made this announcement in the context of the 2022 Washington Satellite Show, the most important trade fair in the satellite sector worldwide, where more than 250 companies from the global space industry will gather from today until Thursday.

Hispasat Wave combines the strength of HISPASAT’s satellite fleet with cutting-edge ground infrastructure and value-added service solutions in two key pillars: Networks and Video. Wave is built on a customer-first approach and hands-on partnerships to support customers and partners every step of the way.

Hispasat Wave Networks focuses on connectivity services for extending cellular networks, deploying residential and corporate Internet access, and providing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and satellite Wi-Fi hotspots to connect the unconnected. It provides connectivity to air, maritime and ground mobility environments which make it possible to have the best connectivity and on-board entertainment services. Lastly, Hispasat Wave Networks also includes managed services for government programs, such as remote learning and telemedicine services, and highly reliable, rapid deployment services for emergency situations. Across all these services, HISPASAT integrates and manages a complete solution in tandem with customers and partners.

Hispasat Wave Video offers scalable end-to-end solutions for the delivery and distribution of TV and content across satellite and OTT. Wave Video enables operators, broadcasters, ISPs and content providers to reduce costs while engaging the widest possible audience. Hispasat Wave Video solutions are enhanced by the 2021 acquisition of the assets and signal transmission operations of Media Networks Latin America (a company of the Telefónica group in Peru). A new generation OTT video distribution solution, which has been recently announced by the company, will soon be added to this portfolio.

Amazonas Nexus, greater capacity and flexibility in orbit

Visitors to HISPASAT’s booth (1617) will have the opportunity to learn about the features of the Amazonas Nexus satellite, which will be launched at the end of the year and is being manufactured by Thales Alenia Space. This new satellite will have coverage over the entire American continent, the North and South Atlantic corridors and Greenland, and its aim is to provide connectivity services in remote areas and in mobility. Amazonas Nexus will have a state-of-the-art digital transparent processor, which will provide it with greater geographical flexibility to adapt to changes in the demand of services throughout its useful life.

SATELLITE 2022 is the most important satellite communications event worldwide and it is where the sector’s most prominent professionals and companies come to respond to the increasingly complex challenges of the market. In addition to the exhibitor area, the trade fair has a complete conference program in which HISPASAT will also be present thanks to the participation of its commercial director, Ignacio Sanchis, who will be one of the members of the panel entitled “Mobile Connectivity Services on Land: Transportation, 5G/IOT, and More”.
