Hispasat and NOS sign a multi-year agreement for satellite television distribution

December 4, 2025

Both companies thus consolidate their alliance of more than 20 years for the provision of this service throughout Portugal.

Hispasat and NOS, the Portuguese telecommunications company, have renewed their satellite television distribution service (DTH) throughout the national territory, including its archipelagos, with a multi-year agreement. This renewal consolidates a collaboration between the two companies that has been in place for more than 20 years, thus guaranteeing the continuity and quality of NOS's satellite content distribution. This service is a fundamental requirement for full TV coverage across Portugal, ensuring that no citizen is left behind, regardless of their location.

Hispasat will provide robust satellite capacity from its fleet at 30º West to deliver this vital service, which includes more than 100 national and international channels. This extensive offering ensures access to a wide array of entertainment, news, and educational content for Portuguese households across the entire nation.

Despite the widespread deployment of terrestrial services, satellite television remains a crucial and required solution for ensuring full TV coverage throughout Portugal, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas. This service is vital for delivering everything to everyone, a core commitment for NOS, and plays a significant role in bridging the digital divide by guaranteeing access throughout the national territory. In the case of Portugal, there’s still a base of satellite television users, especially in less densely populated regions, where reception using this technology guarantees the best signal stability and quality, ensuring continuous access to vital information and entertainment, and connecting communities.

For Joao Ferreira, Director at NOS, "our solid audiovisual offering has relied on Hispasat as a partner for our satellite television for decades. Having the high reliability of its satellite fleet is a guarantee that we can continue to offer the best service to any customers, ensuring we deliver everything to everyone in Portugal even in the most remote areas. This collaboration is required to maintain our commitment to full national coverage, connecting our diverse communities and keeping them informed and entertained."

Ignacio Sanchis, Chief Commercial Officer of Hispasat, added that "it is a great satisfaction for us to once again have the trust of NOS to provide its DTH services through our satellites. This new agreement consolidates a strategic relationship for us in the Iberian Peninsula market."
