• A total of 127 short films from 17 countries, all of which were entirely shot and post-produced in 4K, have been submitted to the third edition of the contest.
• The increase in the number of participants represents a 26% increase over the 2016 call.
Madrid, 28 June 2017. - June 14 marked the deadline for the submission of entries to the third edition of the Hispasat 4K International Short Film Festival, the main objective of which is to promote the production of contents in Ultra High Definition. A total of 127 short films from 17 different countries were submitted to this year's edition of this pioneering contest, which represents an increase of about 26% over the 2016 edition of the Festival. These figures confirm the progressive increase of audiovisual creation in 4K and the spread of this innovative technology. The call is open to films entirely shot and post-produced in 4K that have been produced as of 1 January 2015, in any country and in any genre, with a maximum duration of 25 minutes.
Short films have been received from Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Spain, the United States, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Peru, the United Kingdom, Russia and Switzerland. International representation has also increased, with 33 foreign short films this year compared to the 15 that were submitted in 2016. This represents 26% of the total number of entries, confirming the progressive internationalisation of the festival. Another relevant statistic is that women directed 28% of the films received this year.

The Festival, organised by the Spanish satellite operator HISPASAT, is sponsored by the production company Cine365 Film, leading companies in the film production sector, such as Dolby Laboratories, SGO, Fujifilm and the sound studio Ad Hoc, as well as RTVE, the leading television broadcaster in this technological field in Spain, and Atreseries, which, given its role as a distributor of audiovisual content, has joined the initiative this year.
New contents and activities of this third edition of the Hispasat 4K International Film Festival will soon be announced. The awards ceremony will be held on 19 October at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, one of the capital´s cultural icons.
